Social Prospector IG v0.0.57

✍️ Ready-made opening messages are now built into the message picker

  • Opening the template picker used to show an empty box. It only ever listed templates you had already written yourself, so the people who most needed a starting point got a blank page and had to invent a cold opener from scratch.
  • There are now 12 opening messages built in, grouped by the four audiences you can build a list from: people who engaged on someone else's post, people who engaged on your own post, a competitor's followers, and your own followers.
  • Each audience gets three different phrasings, and each one explains in plain language why that wording works, so you can learn to write your own rather than only paste.
  • Click one to drop it straight into the composer. Because a campaign rotates through its messages, adding all three means consecutive people get different text.
  • The parts you need to write yourself are marked in [square brackets]. If you start a campaign with any of them still unfilled, Social Prospector now names them and asks you to confirm, so a prospect never receives a half-finished message.
  • The built-in starters cannot be edited or deleted by accident. Your own saved templates are untouched.

📎 Fixed: an image or voice clip could land on the wrong message

  • In a campaign with more than one message, an attachment could end up on a different message than the one you added it to. In practice that meant a real person could receive the wrong image.
  • The message text, the image and the audio are matched up by position, and nothing kept those three lists the same length. Adding a row only extended the text, and a campaign saved before you ever added an attachment came back short.
  • We reproduced it: with an image on message 1, add a new row, then duplicate message 1, and the image showed up on the blank row 2 while the duplicate had none.
  • The lists are now kept in step before any add or duplicate, so an attachment stays on the message you put it on.

🔄 The app now checks for a new version every hour

  • Social Prospector is built to be left running for days at a time, and it only looked for a new version at startup or when you picked "Check for updates" yourself. A copy that never gets quit never found out a release had happened, so people stayed on an old version for weeks while the fix was already live and waiting.
  • It now checks once an hour, and again right after your machine wakes from sleep.
  • It waits for a quiet moment. If a campaign, a scheduled campaign, a follower schedule, a scrape or a follow-up nudge is running, the check is skipped and tried again later, so an update prompt never lands on top of a live send.
  • Dismiss the prompt and that version stays quiet for six hours instead of asking again every hour. A failed check in the background is now noted quietly and retried, so being offline or on hotel wifi no longer throws an error box at you.
  • Nothing downloads or installs on its own. You still get a prompt, and it only installs when you click to accept.

👋 Fixed: messages could go out starting "Hey ,"

  • If a contact had no readable name and their profile could not be read, a plain {firstname} rendered as nothing at all, so a real person received a message opening "Hey ,".
  • It now falls back to "there", the same way Social Prospector for Facebook has always behaved, so the two products handle the token identically.
  • If you wrote your own fallback, such as {firstname|friend}, yours is still used.

🧹 The campaign message editor is easier to read and use

  • The edit dialog was wider than its own form, so everything hung to the left against an empty gap, one label overflowed its column and dragged its buttons out of line, and each message crammed six unlabelled round buttons into a narrow strip. Nothing on screen told you that the messages in a campaign rotate between recipients rather than all going to the same person.
  • Every message is now its own numbered card that says so, with Duplicate and Remove sitting beside the message they act on and the same labelled attachment buttons you already use in the main composer.
  • Preview is now a proper button with an eye icon rather than a plain blue link, and the starter panel can be collapsed, with your choice remembered between sessions.
  • Status messages across the app were rewritten in plainer, more consistent wording, for example "Checking Instagram Session" is now "Checking your Instagram session".
