🔍 Post Lover now records what each pass actually did

  • A customer reported Post Lover taking more than an hour to work through 20 posts. When we opened the log, the run had gone completely silent for 104 minutes, so there was no way to tell what it had been doing in that time.
  • Every pass over your feed is now recorded: how many posts it looked at, how many it skipped, how many it reacted to, and how long that pass took. Each reaction is logged as it happens.
  • How Post Lover behaves has not changed. What changed is that a slow run can now be explained from the log instead of guessed at.

🔎 Behind the scenes

  • Our first attempt at this was wrong. We blamed a 15 second pause that turned out to sit on a completely different path, and the tests written to protect the change could not tell, because they only checked that the code existed, not where it sat.
  • There is now a check that reads the real structure of the code rather than its text, so a counter placed in the wrong branch fails the build. It was proven by deliberately moving it and watching the check go red.
